The History of Black Friday and Its Deals

Every year, the day after Thanksgiving draws in hordes of shoppers to stores with its promise of amazing deals. This tradition is popularly known as “Black Friday” and has become an integral part of holiday shopping. But how did it get its name? Where did the idea come from? Let’s explore the history behind this beloved event and why it’s such a great time to find discounts on gym equipment, activewear, protein powders, yoga mats, and more!

The Origin of Black Friday

The term “Black Friday” was originally used to describe September 24th 1869. On this day, two Wall Street financiers attempted to corner the gold market and caused a massive decline in prices that eventually led to a stock market crash. This event was referred to as “Black Friday” because it marked the start of financial ruin for many investors.

In modern times, however, Black Friday has since taken on a much more positive connotation. It is now associated with the start of the holiday shopping season where stores offer amazing deals on everything from gym equipment to activewear and nutrition supplements.

Why Do We Have Black Friday Deals?

In reality, Black Friday deals are all about driving consumer spending during the holidays. With so many people out shopping for gifts for their friends and family (and themselves!), retailers are eager to capture these consumers’ attention with deep discounts that can be hard to pass up. Not only does this help move products off store shelves but it also helps retailers make more money in sales than they would have otherwise.

With all these great deals available throughout the holiday season, it can be tempting to go crazy with your spending—which is why budgeting ahead of time is key! Make sure you know what items you need and how much money you want to spend before heading out so that you don't end up overspending or buying something you don't really need just because it's on sale.
