5 Supplements You Should Never Take

Whenever I go to the supplement store, I feel like a kid in a candy store. There are so many different options, and it's tough to know which ones are actually worth taking. After doing some research, I've compiled a list of 5 supplements that you should never take. In general, you should always be sceptical of any supplement that makes outrageous claims or is endorsed by a celebrity.

1. Green tea extract. Green tea is good for you, there's no doubt about that. But the doses of green tea extract found in supplements are generally much higher than what you would get from drinking green tea. That can lead to problems like nausea, irritability, and rapid heartbeat.

2. Another popular supplement is garcinia Cambogia, which is supposed to help with weight loss. However, there is no evidence that garcinia Cambogia actually leads to weight loss. It may even be unsafe for some people. So save your money and steer clear of this one.

3. Another useless supplement is glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate, which is supposed to help with joint pain. However, studies have shown that glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate does not help with joint pain any more than a placebo does. So don't waste your money on this one either.

4. Another popular but ultimately unhelpful supplement is ginseng. Ginseng has been touted as a cure-all for everything from fatigue to cancer. However, there is no scientific evidence that ginseng actually does anything helpful for the human body. So save your money and skip this one too.

5. The last supplement to avoid is St John's wort, which is supposed to be helpful for depression and anxiety. However, St John's wort can actually cause more problems than it solves. It can interact dangerously with other medications and cause side effects like dizziness and gastrointestinal problems. So it's best to avoid this one as well.
